Chapter of "Life's Storms" and Book covers

Well, hello everyone! Today I want to share the full first chapter of Life's Storms and show you some of the book covers I've been playing around with.   Chapter first...keep in mind that this is unedited for now. I've put parts of the first chapter on before so you may know parts of this already. Chapter One "Emma!" Emma Nolan was welcomed home by her younger sister, who jumped on her the minute she went through the door. Emma laughed. "What's the special occasion?" she asked as she hung up her wet cloak. Betty bounced up and down. "We got a letter from Lars! Father won't read it until we're all here! Hurry, Emma!" "Let me go freshen up and I'll be right there," Emma tossed over her shoulder as she rushed to her room.  Emma quickly rinsed her hands and face and changed out of her Nurse dress and apron. She ran a brush through her chestnut colored hair a couple times before tying it up behind her neck wi

The Buck Brothers/ Chapter 5

It's time for another chapter! Do you remember what happened in the last chapter? Luke was kidnapped!! Ready to see what happens next? Chapter 4 Tex and Tom pulled to a stop in front of the Doc's house, their horses foamed with sweat. Doc came out the spare room as Tex and Tom came inside. Tex and Tom were both grave. Eyes narrowed and lips drawn into tight lines. Tex took of his hat and threw it on the table. He started to pace the floor. Tom slumped in a chair and sat staring at the wall. Chuck cast them questioning looks. "Well, what's wrong?" Tex stopped pacing the floor and looked at him. Tom suddenly stood up with a shout of anger. "Why did I leave him? Why did I go and leave him?" He slapped the table. The sound reverberate through the room. "Leave who? Will one of you calm down and tell us what's going on?" Chuck demanded. Tex dug in his vest pocket and pulled out the crumpled note from the kidnappers. "That's wh

Top Ten Baby Names

Hey, everyone! Liberty @  Elegant cowgirl did a post like this and I thought it sounded fun so I'm going to do it too! Mine is going to be a little different because I'm also going to put the meanings of the names. Top Ten Boy Names: (note: names aren't in an order) 1. John- I know this name sounds so simple but I've always used it since I was a child. My Grandpa is named Jon and my little brother Levi's middle name is Jon, and my dad had an Uncle Johnny that died. I also think it's cute to call someone Johnny. Meaning: Jehovah (God) has been gracious 2. Abel- I just used this name in the book I'm writing. I just grabbed a random name for a person that wouldn't be in it very much. It ended up that I like the name. I don't really know why. I just like the sound of it I guess. Meaning: Breath; son; breathing spirit 3. Wayne- I've always liked this name since I read the Canadian Mountie series By Jannet Oke. His name is Wynn but When

The Buck Brothers / Chapter 4

You all ready for this one?.... Chapter 4 Tom woke up and swung his legs to the floor. He ran his fingers through his brown hair and reached for his gun belt. His eyes swung over to Tex's bed. It hadn't been slept in. He's fine. Tom tried to convince himself. He knows how to take care of himself. The thought only eased the worry a little. "Someth'n wrong?"  Luke's weak voice made Tom jump, but on the sight of Luke laying awake in bed he grinned. "Thank the Lord!" Chuck jerked upright in his chair, awakened by Tom's rejoicing. "What is it?" He asked in alarm. Chuck grinned sheepishly when Tom and Luke laughed. He shook his head in annoyance and stood up. "Well, since you're awake, little brother, I'll go get you some beef broth. We need to get you strong in a hurry." Luke wrinkled his nose. "Broth? No thanks! I'll have some bacon and eggs." Tom felt a flood of relief. "I think ou

The Buck Brothers/ Chapter Three

The next chapter of The Buck Brothers coming right up! Ready? Set? GO! Chapter 3 "Who would have guessed it would be so easy." One man laughed. "We already got three of them held up behind those boulders." Some laughter followed from all three men. Tex eyed the camp. One man was laying on his stomach watching the boulders with rifle in hand. The other two were drinking coffee by the fire with their pistols stuffed in their belts and rifles not too far away. Tex had to work fast before the other man woke up, but they were giving him no chances. Fifteen minuets later Tex was drenched with sweat. A fly buzzed by his face, but he dared not brush it away. The three man were still talking and laughing about how easy it had been. Tex wondered how long his brothers could or would stay held up behind those rocks. If they had water, maybe a while. If someone needed medical help maybe, just maybe, they would try to get out of there. Tex's thoughts were interrupte
